For Better Score, Aim for the Center of the Green
Some golfers just try to hit the flagstick all the time. But it may not be a good idea to do so if you want to score better.
There was a study done with 2 groups of average golfers. One group was playing the holes with flagsticks as usual. But the other group was playing holes without flagsticks so they didn't know where the holes were when hitting shots from the tee ground or fairway.
The result?
The group without flagsticks scored better.
So if you aim for the center of the green, you'll score better.
But when you aim for the middle of the green, I want you to pick a specific point.
Harvey Penick said "take dead aim."
Your shots will be more accurate if you aim at a specific point.
I'm not saying you should shoot for the center of the green every time. But you need to know when to go for the flagstick.
